Preparing For Paper Purge

In order to help the Law of Attraction work its magic,
we need to make room for change, for energy to flow.
And this calls for major de-cluttering.

Last spring, I got rid of stuff that was just not in tune with what I want my life to be about from now on. What a relief it was to empty closets and drawers and boxes stacked in corners, and to realize how totally liberating and exhilarating the exercise was.

What’s left for me to do, at this point, is the same exercise, but with the documents I’ve been accumulating since childhood – I kid you not.

So a month ago, I put two binders filled with documents on a chair, and I’ve been moving that chair a little bit each day to make sure it gets in the way enough for me to remember I need to get crackin’!

Because if I don’t start reading / taking notes / shredding pretty soon,
I’m afraid to imagine what THE CHAIR will do to me.

I hear it breathing as I type…

How about you?
Is the Clutter Monster
breathing down your back?

I hope you have more paper than that cause if you don’t I am REALLY too embarrassed to tell you how much I have! It’s hard to make the decisions isn’t it. Perhaps your efforts will spur me on set aside a day (or three). I really like your idea of the chair representing the stumbling block. That’s good!

I find it had to “let go” of things from my own childhood and my children’s too. I have some of my primary school posters and drawings, and loads of my kids works. Someone gave me an excellent tip last year which was to take photos of the children’s art works and then put them immediately into a scrapbook. The colors are still as vivid, but everything is much easier to keep. Plus it’s something that can be pulled out at any moment to show others. The only thing I’m having difficulty with is getting the photos off my computer and into the scrapbook, but there’s always tomorrow!!!

Marilyn…you have no idea how much paper I have. It’s a JUNGLE in here.

There’s no way I can take a picture of everything, but as I move along this journey, purging my paper past, I’ll put up a photo of each new batch I’ll be trashing through.

And you better get to it, young lady! Don’t let all that paper turn you into a paperweight. :-)

    EXCELLENT IDEA, Tracey.

You should write about this in your blog. Such a brilliant way of keeping your kid’s art alive and well and neatly organized.

    Rockin’!

I have a box of papers from my childhood, old letters and memorabilia, and I can’t face going through it so I keep moving it around. I know when I finally sit down to sort it out, it will take hours because I’ll want to read everything….so I put it off over and over again!

    Hey Charlotte!

Why can’t you “face going through it,” I wonder? Is this because it could be painful?

Thanks for visiting…come back any time :-)
